ELVIN & STÉPHANE GALLAND – THE GALLANDS
For the first time, due to the confinement measures in their country, father Stéphane Galland (drums) and son Elvin Galland (keys) found the time and the ideal opportunity to create and record music together. The result is a blend of two vast and rich musical worlds that merge into a unique sound that mixes Hip-Hop, Jazz, R’n’B, Electro, Pop, Breakbeat and Funk.
Their repertoire of originals is nourished by what they like most: Groove, trippy chord progressions, a mix of acoustic and electronic sounds, some blazing, punchy and energetic rhythms, and cinematic atmospheres.
When Stéphane Galland was invited to be the artist in residence at Jazz Middelheim 2025, he chose to invide singer Selah Sue and turntable wizard DJ Grazzhoppa on stage with The Gallands. The show, where they played brand new songs composed just for the occasion, was nothing short of magical. So it’s inevitable that more is coming.

“With Selah Sue on stage, there were even less reasons to care about the bad weather. With her soulful voice, she gave the music an even broader dimension, while also giving her co-musicians space. (…) The songs, written for this occasion and performed live for the first time, sounded great – especially the closer ‘As one’ made the audience beg for more.”
– De Standaard
“The music sounded great and full-bodied (…) It’s a shame about the rain, because this band deserves a lovely summer evening with a dancing audience at the stage. This music is solid as a rock.”
– Written In Music
“The Gallands bring an enchanting mix of genres. And in the hands of ‘curator’ Galland, (Selah Sue’s) sound gains a deeper groove with rhythmic surprise in every measure.”
